As part of our Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) program, focused on solar market development and finance in Nigeria, we are supporting some solar training courses provided by NAPTIN, Lagos and ISSCeRER, Katsina. Quality assurance is the second pillar (first and third being market awareness and investment respectively) of our program, whereby we plan to improve quality assurance of solar systems installed through a dedicated training program for local installers and solar professionals in Nigeria.
We are pleased to inform you that IFC is supporting two institutions; National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) RTC Ijora, Lagos for southern Nigeria; and the Ibrahim Shehu Shema Centre for Renewable Energy Research (ISSCeRER) – Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, for northern Nigeria. These are training partners of the Training Partnership Network for Clean Energy of the Nigerian Energy Support Program (NESP) and the Nigerian Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Project (REEEP). NESP is funded by the European Union and Germany and implemented by Deutsche Gasellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). REEEP is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Winrock International.
IFC through the support of DFID and the Hungarian Government will provide a 50% partial scholarship (covering both tuition and accommodation) support for pre-qualified candidates nominated by solar companies/developers and other interested parties like yours. With the focus for participants to develop their solar PV technical capacity and prepare them for certification. Please see attached brochure for details. Applications should be made directly to the aforementioned training institutions.
